Everyone who loves cheese needs to come along to this fantastic event. There will be so many different types of cheeses available to sample and buy; you will be spoilt for choice.
There are many local and regional cheeses on offer. You will be able to talk to those directly responsible for the cheese so if you fancy learning more about the cheese itself simply come along to one of our organised talks by a local cheese expert who will be telling you more about the origins of cheese, its potted history and various production techniques. There are many masterclasses in the Demonstration Theatre to take advantage of and you can explore many ways to use cheese in your recipies.
We are determined to bring the sunshine and with the weather being hot what better way to compliment it than by hosting a Chilli Festival alongside the Cheese Festival.
There will be many different types of Chillies available to sample and purchase whether it be real chilli plants, chilli sauces of all kinds or simply advice on growing your own chillies we have it all, so if you like your chillies the show is definitely for you.
If eating chillies is your thing, we host a Food Challenge at 1pm and a CHILLI EATING competition at approx 4pm each day at the event. We welcome members of the public to come forward and take on these epic challenges. If you’d like to know more, please contact us at here.
At around 1pm each day, we’ll invite people to get involved with the food challenge. You can participate or simply watch the hilarious event. Each year, the event has included a different food challenge. Previous challenges have included; Bagel of Doom, Deathly Hot Dogs, Extreme Hot Sauce. What’s it going to be in 2022!

Traders will compete for the coveted Cheese & Chilli Festival Sauce Awards. Entries for mild, medium and hot sauces will be available for those attending the event to judge. Everyone is able to select their preferred sauce and the winning sauces will be awarded the prizes at the closing ceremony on Sunday.
There will be an authentic beer offering from one or more of the many microbreweries around the area at each event. There will be an excellent range of real ales available to try and enjoy. Along with the real ales, there will be a large selection of nice wines, spirits, lagers and cold drinks.
There is so much for the children to enjoy at the event. Just being out with the family is often enough to thrill the children but if they need something else, activities to keep the children entertained include PUNCH & JUDY, SILLY HUMAN STUNT SHOWS, BUBBLE PARTIES, A TREASURE HUNT, INFLATABLES, MERRY GO ROUNDS AND STREET THEATRE and what’s more, most of it is FREE.
If Cheese and Chilli is not your thing, there will be many craft and shopping stalls at the events selling great products at great prices. There will be some very unusual offerings as well as conventional products. There will even be a Tarot Reader at the shows (Tim Brooks, Apricot Sunset).
At each event, we have a Demonstration Theatre where the amazing Chilli Olly and Chilli Pepper Perrett invites special guests onto the stage with various fun and engaging sessions. The Hot Food Challenge happens here as well as sessions such as Burning Brunch; Meet the Maker; the Ultimate Cheese Toast; Chatting with Chilli Sid; Chilli Cocktails. Members of the audience are asked to come up on stage and cook with the guests and sample the amazing food.
Dan has been performing all over the world ,for the last 16 years.
He has worked at Festivals , on Stages and on the Streets in front of thousands of people.
His quick wit and on the button ‘improv’ silliness is a sure fire hit with any audience!
Let ‘Dan the Hat’ take you on a frenzied journey of Skills ,Comedy. Stupid Stunts and heaps of Audience interaction, (whether they like it or not!)
If you fancy coming to the event to just enjoy the atmosphere, why not bring a picnic and make yourself comfortable in front of the music stage. We are changing the format this year by having more bands playing more often. We have a mixture of local bands, UK wide bands and international bands performing a variety of genres. The live music starts at 12noon and continues until 6.30pm. Check out the entertainment schedule for more details.
Along with many of the other free activities, we have our very own Crazy Golf Course. Par 27, can you beat it?
Dogs are very welcome at the events. All we ask is that they are kept on leads and that you collect any mess they make.
