The Cheese Festival
Everyone who loves cheese needs to come along to this fantastic event. There will be so many different types of cheeses available to sample and buy; you will be spoilt for choice.
There are many local and regional cheeses on offer. You will be able to talk to those directly responsible for the cheese so if you fancy learning more about the cheese itself simply come along to one of our organised talks by a local cheese expert who will be telling you more about the origins of cheese, its potted history and various production techniques.
The Chilli Festival
We are determined to bring the sunshine and with the weather being hot what better way to compliment it than by hosting a Chilli Festival alongside the Cheese Festival.
There will be many different types of Chillies available to sample and purchase whether it be real chilli plants, chilli sauces of all kinds or simply advice on growing your own chillies we have it all, so if you like your chillies the show is definitely for you.
Six rare breed pigs, ranging from Tamworths to Gloucester Old Spots to Saddlebacks to Berkshires to Oxford sandy and blacks, will fill the arena with their amusing antics. The handlers and the crowd will encourage them down the track by shaking a bucket of food and the pigs hurl themselves over the hurdles in their rush to be the first to the bucket ! This is great fun for all including the pigs.
And Much Much More!
Along with the many different chilli offerings, there will be a Chilli Eating Competition at the end of each day. Not for the faint hearted! If you are interested in taking part in the challenge, entries are being taken now so contact us for an application form to guarantee a place. There is a limit to the number of places available. If you want to simply sit and watch the hilarious event, grab a drink and enjoy!
In 2017 we trialled a Man V Food Challenge and it was so popular that we’ve decided to do it again. At around 1pm each day, we’ll invite people to get involved with the food challenge. Not for the faint hearted! If you are interested in taking part in the challenge, entries are being taken now so contact us for an application form to guarantee a place. There is a limit to the number of places available. If you want to simply sit and watch the hilarious event, grab a drink and enjoy!
Traders will compete for the coveted CCF Sauce Awards. Entries for mild, medium and hot sauces will be available for those attending the event to judge. Everyone is able to select their preferred sauce and the winning sauces will be awarded the prizes at the closing ceremony on Sunday.
There will be an authentic beer offering from one or more of the many microbreweries around the area at each event. There will be an excellent range of real ales available to try and enjoy. Along with the real ales, there will be a large selection of nice wines, spirits, lagers and cold drinks.
There is so much for the children to enjoy at the event. Just being out with the family is often enough to thrill the children but if they need something else, activities to keep the children entertained include and what’s more, most of it is FREE. Activities include:

If Cheese and Chilli is not your thing, there will be many craft and shopping stalls at the events selling great products at great prices. There will be some very unusual offerings as well as conventional products. There will even be a Tarot Reader at the shows (Tim Brooks, Apricot Sunset). Whether it is a rustic handmade cheese board you are looking for, a set of new quality knives, some new clothes, a present for loved one or your future told, you’ll find it here.
