Carley Varley (named after the lead vocalist) is an Alternative Rock band based in the South Coast UK. Formed in 2023 the band consists of lead vocalist and guitarist Carley Varley, guitarist Alex Tompkins, bassist Jordan Shepherd and drummer Fred Sedgeley. Carley Varley loves making pop songs into rockier edgy tunes, with their lead powerhouse vocalist Carley adding her twist with her haunting yet powerful voice. Carley Varley’s original songs are packed with emotion and entrancing with her storytelling. The Homesick EP was featured on BBC Introducing, The South Coast Music Show (Voice FM), Forest FM and Black on Track. The band are currently performing Carley’s original music along with their covers with a twist by groups such as Paramore, Taylor Swift and The Cranberries.

In between their day jobs as teachers, the band have been playing sweaty pubs, festivals and even a few European bar tours.

In 2025 the band will release their 2nd collection of songs recorded at Chem19 studios in Glasgow. The aim of this is to continue to create music that represent the energy they bring to live shows alongside their love of story telling, combining vintage production and driving up-beat melodies.

The band will be supporting these songs with a string of live shows with their classic rich vocals, soulful grooves and soaring horns. The band are hoping to grow their reputation for raucous, emotional, high energy live shows, forming an intimate relationship with their audience.

Flaxen Hill blend acoustic and electric guitars with violin, mandolin, bass and drums. We play covers, but we’re not a covers band. Our repertoire is broad ranging and our sets are an eclectic mix of songs from a variety of genres and artists. We love to add our own style to the songs that we perform so while all will be familiar, some will surprise. We are based in Winchester and have been playing festivals, pubs and events locally for the last 14 years. In that time we have forged a reputation for our engaging, energetic performances.
