Chichester Cheese & Chilli Festival

1st & 2nd July 2023

Saturday 10am - 6pm

Sunday 10am - 5pm

We are delighted to announce that the amazing Cheese and Chilli Festival is coming to Chichester in 2023 at Oaklands Park! As former students of Chichester University, we can’t wait to return!

If you'd like to get involved and help support the event by sponsoring different elements of the 2023 event, please contact us.

Main Attractions

We are very excited to be coming to Chichester with the Cheese and Chilli festival for the first time.

Whilst we are still working on our 2023 schedule of entertainments, to give you an idea as to what the event may include why don’t you take a look at the types of entertainments that we enjoyed in 2022, see below.

Stunt Show (Saturday Only)

The Famous Jez Avery

Jez is a Mountainbike stunt legend and an all-round showman. Jez Avery, one of the originators of freestyle mountainbiking and renowned UK stunt show performer across the UK.  His stunts include quad bikes, mountain bikes, motorcycles etc. Jez is part stuntman and part comedian as he entertains the crowd throughout his performance. Not to be missed.  Please note that we are only lucky enough to have Jez at the show on SATURDAY ONLY.

Dog Talent Show (Sunday Only)

We would like to create our own SILLY version of (perhaps) the greatest dog show, Crufts.

We are inviting the public to bring with them their own dog and for this to be judged in our very own Dog Companion Show by our judging panel who include professional pet lovers.
5 Event Categories; Best Smile, Waggiest Tail, Best Trick, ‘Sheddiest’ Dog and Dog That Looks Most Like Owner.

Chilli Eating Competition

The Chilli Eating Competition takes place each day at around 4pm.  It’s quite a sight to see grown adults struggle to eat tiny fruits and hilarious to see the consequences! The winner of the competition is the person who can stay in the game the longest! If you are mad enough for the challenge, please contact us.

Live Music

A festival is not a festival without some live music! To keep us entertained, we have a number of bands playing for us throughout the weekend. The bands will be celebrated musicians from around the region playing anything from from jazz to rock. See the schedule for further information.

Demonstration Theatre

A number of cooking demonstrations or talks will be offered by professionals from the cheese and chilli industry. Many sessions will be hosted by the famous Chilli Olly but we will also have many guest speakers. See the schedule for further details. The Demonstration Theatre will also host the popular Hot Food Challenge, Ready Steady Cook interactive cooking session plus many more.

Walkabout Musicians

Red hot accordion tunes, thumping guitar & harmony drenched vocals.

International folk-duo BoxSet have played festivals together all over Britain, mainland Europe & America.

You will see them at Cheese & Chilli on the stage & and walking around the site in their top hats playing unplugged & singing acapella.

Children's Entertainment

We have number of FREE activities available for the kids.  We have Punch & Judy, Magic Shows, Treasure Hunts, Balloon Modelling, Crazy Golf, Football and Circus Skills available.  There are paid for activities also such as mini fun fair rides, face painting, inflatables etc.  We are very sad to say that our resident Pirate Magician Alf Mackay sadly passed away at the end of last season and we would like to dedicate all our shows this year to him.  He is sadly missed and as a token to him, any child coming to the event dressed as a pirate will receive a sweet gift.

Punch & Judy

“A Classic Whodunit”

Punch & Judy is a classic show which the kids love.  It’s also a time to have 30 minutes or so to grab a drink etc and relax as we’ll take the strain. The show is a fun and interactive play which we all know and love.

Meet The Mascot

We have created our very own mascot! It’s 3m tall and filled with air but what is it?  Come and find out!

Taste Tent

At each event we have a tailored selection of sauces from various traders around the site and we ask you to judge which ones you prefer.  When entering the event, you are given a ballot slip to be used in this area.  Your vote counts!

Crazy Golf

Another FREE activity, why not test yourself against our very own Cheese & Chilli Crazy Golf Course.  Par 27!  Large and small putters available plus multicoloured balls so no cheating.

Hot Food Challenge

The Hot Food Challenge is a crazy 30 minutes of watching people try and devour a HOT meal prepared lovingly by our resident chef Chilli Olly.  The winner is the person who can finish their first! If you are mad enough for the challenge, please contact us.

Cheese & Chilli

An array of lovely cheese & chilli available for you to sample and purchase. We are very lucky to be supported by some of the uk’s leading growers, makers and manufacturers of cheese and chilli related products. It’s a chance to come and try something new and learn something about these fantastic products.

Good Times

If the activities on offer aren’t your thing, you can just come and have a good time with your friends or family.  Let the good times roll!

Bubble Party

A moment for the kids to go crazy and chase all the bubbles! We have giant and little bubbles to make.  We even let the kids have a go at making some themselves.

Fun Fair Rides

DNG Events will be supplying us with some rides.  Here are some example images of rides they have available but it is not yet confirmed which rides will be present.

Extreme Heat Challenge

’Thinking of performing an Extreme Heat Challenge?  Come and meet Chilli Sid in our Demonstration Tent.  Chilli Sid is famous for completing a number of Extreme Heat Challenges.  These sessions are designed to give you an insight into the world of extreme chilli challenges.  Extreme heat challenges are becoming more popular and if you are interested in having a go one day, you need to understand the dangers involved.  Chilli Olly and Chilli Sid will walk and talk you through the process. Chilli Sid will be performing a number of Heat Challenges throughout this amazing Q&A answering any questions you have including how it feels to eat 40 Carolina Reapers in one sitting!’

Recycling

We are committed to making the Festival more environmentally friendly and we encourage you to do the same. Help us to keep the site tidy and leave no trace. Please bring and use your own water bottles. Try to conserve water on non-essential use. Do not bring glass; no glass bottles are allowed on site.  We will also be offering visitors the opportunity to purchase a sustainable reusable cup instead of using single use plastic containers at the bar.  We are actively exploring other ways that we can help reduce our carbon footprint. Together we can make a difference.

Top 5 things you can do to help:

1. Recycle, recycle recycle!!

2. Keep tidy.  Please don’t leave rubbish or equipment

3. Bring your own water bottle and refill onsite

4. Car share
